I originally got very low marks in my exams but when Yukari started teaching me I realised that I enjoyed playing the piano so much more and now I’ve got consistent distinctions from Grades 2-5. I play the oboe and do singing and Yukari has indirectly helped me with them, whether it’s through sight reading or general music knowledge. She somehow manages to teach you technique, style and makes the lessons fun and something to look forward to. When I walk into the exam hall Yukari makes me feel so much more confident and well prepared. Thank you!

Her ability to adapt to Covid-19 by use of video calls meant that I could continue progressing even during lockdown.
I also regularly enjoy the student concert's Yukari organises as not only is it great practice for exams but I get to see how she skilled she is at teaching students of all ages. "I returned to piano playing as an adult, some 30 years after studying while at school, and have taken lessons with Yukari for many years. Yukari’s standard of teaching is higher than anything I have previously experienced, and what I find particularly impressive is her ability to teach all types of pupils, from young beginners, precocious teenagers, returning adults, through to diploma level students, for all purposes, including taking up the piano, studying for grades and for college, or just playing for pleasure.I have done Grades 7 and 8 with Yukari, and studied a variety of baroque, classical, romantic and 20th Century repertoire with her. She trained as a harpsichordist before becoming a piano teacher so is an expert in baroque keyboard, but in fact you are unlikely to reach the limits of her expertise in any repertoire; we have currently returned to Chopin, which I did with Yukari for my grades, but at a much more demanding level this time around. Or you could choose the Associated Board jazz course, as my son did with her.
The teaching is delivered on side by side teacher’s and pupils grand pianos, and there is the option, taken up by many pupils of all ages and grades, of demonstrating your pieces at regular pupils concerts. When required by lockdown, one-to-one online lessons were very successful. Everything is delivered with Yukari’s combination of enthusiasm, knowledge and creativity. Whatever your level or requirements for piano lessons, I thoroughly recommend Yukari a teacher."

I was first taught piano as a child by my father, continued for a while at secondary school and then interrupted my music studies while at university in Belgium. Having settled down in London, I finally found Yukari after trying several other teachers and have been taking weekly theory and practice lessons with her for more than 20 years. Yukari had been warmly recommended by a prominent organist friend, and she was already known to the North London Music community as an excellent teacher.Being now over 70 and retired, I continue to learn with Yukari and to make constant progress. I share with her a love of Baroque keyboard music, on which she is an expert, but she has a sufficiently open mind to help me discover several composers and has recently encouraged me to develop sight-reading and theory, especially harmony. Her knowledge is wide-ranging, across several musical genres.In addition, Yukari has proved amazingly adaptable during the 2020-21 Covid-19 pandemic by rising to the challenge and offering on-line video lessons on Facetime. We both use an iPad on a tripod so we can see and hear each other’s keyboard and score.
I have seen at first hand, on the occasion of her pupils’ concerts, how patient she is with beginning children, gifted teenagers and elderly returners alike. I now would not dream of having lessons with anyone else.

I started learning with Yukari as an adult, having done ABRSM grades 1-5 when I was younger. I wanted to continue with grades 6-8 and was pleasantly surprised how quickly Yukari helped me get back on track.
Yukari is very good at pinpointing the improvements that will make the most difference to my playing. I find her attention to detail particularly helpful. She really helps you to understand the music and is always ready with suggestions to try next.
